“First you know and then you learn.” Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais
Services
ABM sessions are called “lessons” and the clients are called “students” because the process is one in which the brain is actually learning new patterns as a result of the type and manner in which movements are done. We offer two types of lessons--one-on-one Functional Synthesis lessons and group Transformational Movement lessons.
Functional Synthesis Lessons
Children
The lesson takes place on a lightly padded table. If the child is not ready to be on the table, I can conduct the lesson on the parent’s/caregiver’s lap. Lessons for most children are 30-45 minutes in length. Please have a snack or bottle ready for the child as they often become hungry during the lessons. Babies may nurse as they receive their lesson. Adults The sessions are provided on a lightly padded table. I gently guide your movements which allows for new patterns in the brain to be formed, helping eliminate pain and limitations. A series of lessons is recommended to help you accomplish your goals. Please wear socks and comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement. |
Transformational Movement Lessons (Group Lessons)
Group lessons are usually done on the floor on a soft mat, and I will verbally guide your movements. Each class lesson focuses on a specific skill and includes a sequence of movements that provide the brain with the information it needs to create new, better movement and action patterns. The movements are safe and gentle and progress from very easy to more advanced. |
